Matthew D. Whetstone is the founding member of 1816 inc. and has substantial expertise in legislative and executive branch lobbying, regulatory affairs, rule making, procurement and association management. Mr. Whetstone’s years of work in government affairs has built relationships across the state, especially in central Indiana, where he served as a member of the Indiana House of Representatives (1996-2007), serving Hendricks and Morgan Counties. He also served on the Brownsburg Town Council and currently serves as a member of the Hendricks County Board of Commissioners.
In December 2004, he rose to the rank of Chairman of the House Rules Committee and Ranking Member of the House Public Policy Committee. He most recently completed a three-year role in the Indiana House of Representatives as Parliamentarian (2013-2015). Prior to his most recent service in the statehouse, he served as an Executive Director of Governmental Affairs at Krieg Devault, where he represented the firm’s client base before executive and legislative branches of state and local government.
Mr. Whetstone founded 1816 inc. to provide clients with high-level legislative representation before the Indiana General Assembly and to further client goals with strategies that are flexible and effective in an ever-changing political environment. His experience working within local and state government allows him to provide expertise in the decision-making process at all levels of government.
